The Old Dominion Appalachian Trail Club is an organization of individuals who meet to enjoy the outdoors and act as stewards of a 19.1 mile portion of the Appalachian Trail from Rockfish Gap on I-64 (near Waynesboro) to Reed's Gap on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is a hiking group for men to get away from the daily grind and out into nature at least once a month. Our hikes take place on Fridays, mostly in the afternoon, last for about 3 hours and always end at a suitable hydration spot, often the Griffen Tavern in Flint Hill, VA. This group is for families with children at Columbia Elementary School in Annandale, VA., who are interested in hiking their kids to/from school. Typically, we start at 8:30 AM at Mason District Park, have time to check out the pond and playground, and hike just over a mile to Columbia to be there around 9-ish. Its a great way for kids to start the day! There are no set days. If the weather is nice, there is a good chance that there will be a hike.
