The Old Dominion Appalachian Trail Club is an organization of individuals who meet to enjoy the outdoors and act as stewards of a 19.1 mile portion of the Appalachian Trail from Rockfish Gap on I-64 (near Waynesboro) to Reed's Gap on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Group of laid back pedalers that are into having fun touring the countryside. Hiking will be part of the itenarary when we have enough participants. Serious bikers that are into Tour de France competition type stuff need to look elsewhere.
The members of the Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club are avid hikers and backpackers. We love the outdoors and we get out and hike and enjoy the trails of western Virginia as much as possible. Our club also maintains 120 miles of the Appalachian Trail as well as 16 shelters along the trail. The club was founded in 1932. We always welcome guests to come along on our hikes. We usually have two group hikes each weekend.

This group is for families with children at Columbia Elementary School in Annandale, VA., who are interested in hiking their kids to/from school. Typically, we start at 8:30 AM at Mason District Park, have time to check out the pond and playground, and hike just over a mile to Columbia to be there around 9-ish. Its a great way for kids to start the day! There are no set days. If the weather is nice, there is a good chance that there will be a hike.
