Hiking Around Philly is different from most hiking groups because we hike off the beaten path. We hike in the woods and the city. We go places that won't be found on any hiker's map. The events are usually within a 1.5 hour drive from Philly, though we sometimes visit NYC or the Jersey shore. The Orvis Company, based in Manchester, VT is the premier fly-fishing gear manufacturer and retailer. The Orvis store in Plymouth Meeting, PA offers free fly-fishing 101 classes in the store and fly-fishing 201 classes held "on the water" in the spring and summer. Free fly tying classes are held each winter as well as free seminars on all aspects of fly fishing year-round. All equipment is provided for all or most of the free classes.

Do you miss getting out and having fun with friends since having kids? Want to get together for events where our young children can have fun (and maybe learn a thing or two) and we parents can enjoy ourselves as well? I am thinking thinks like local hiking, camping, live music events, arts and crafts, bowling, childrens museums, zoos, etc. With a focus on the Southern New Jersey/Philadelphia area.
