Inspired by Tony of ZenHiking. We are starting a new Washington DC meetup that combines several spiritual disciplines such as Meditation, Yoga, TUMMO Reiki, Chi Gong(Qigong) and Tai Chi with all other fun outdoor activities like Hiking, Cycling, Canoeing, Wine Tasting, Camping, Golf and Tennis. Why? The answer is simple. Meditation is best combined with outdoor activities. What could be more fun and more spiritual than doing meditation before or after a day of exciting activities such as Yoga, T …

Adventuring is the outdoor club for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered community in the Washington DC area. Our volunteers lead hikes year-round, and in the warmer months we do recreational bike rides too, some shorter and others longer. That's not everything though. Camping, backpacking, and canoeing are examples of some of the other things we do when we have volunteers to lead them. We're all about enjoying the outdoors and being physically active. Not sure whether an activity will …

First, the 20's and 30's tag is a mindset not an age requirement to join this group. We are a diverse group and ALL are welcome here !! I'm setting this up initially for those of us who are experienced hikers and looking to do longer hikes with other like-minded LGBT folks. There are some great regular hiking groups, but none for gays and lesbians to do 10+ mile hikes and backpacking trips in a social setting. I'd love other people to lead hikes. Here are some great resources to find local hikes. http://midatlantichikes.com/ http://www.hikingupward.com www.Localhikes.com Check other meetup.com groups. If you're new to hiking, I …

Go backpacking with like-minded individuals, find great places, and shoot them (the places, that is.) I hunt the remarkable unseen landscape, the rarely or never-before-photographed, and I love a challenge. I love backpacking in the wilderness, the mountains, or in the desert with two purposes: to enjoy my time in nature and, to bring back her magical moments in a box for others to enjoy. If you prefer to hike solo but want to hike with a compatible hiking companion, this group may be for you. T …

A group for adventurous dogs and their people. The plan is to set up meetups for some of our favorite things to do with our dogs: off-leash hiking, walking, group playdates, training field trips, on-leash socialization walks etc. We'll try out new things when we find them...we're open to all suggestions! We don't discriminate based on breed or type, but we do ask that dogs are non-dog-aggressive to attend certain events, such as group playdates or off-leash hikes.
One of the best ways to network is to do it through shared activities. By being in a relaxed atmosphere you will get to know others and establish deeper relationships doing something you like, vs. a quick networking meeting at a hotel or restaurant. Besides the networking opportunites for business and work, you will also improve your health and fitness. Hikes will tend to be 4-6 miles during the weekdays before or after work with options for longer hikes for those wishing to do so. It sure beats …

While benefiting from an invigorating hike, time is taken for hike leaders - as well as fellow hikers - to share their knowledge of the flora, fauna, geology, and history of the area with the group.

What better discovery to have during an activity than "YOU"!! I started this group because hiking in remote areas brings focus to the way we experience our beautiful world and ourselves. But don't cancel your gym membership -- we are going to need it so we can hike a little farther and give ourselves a better reason to stay healthy and fit.

Its a great way for kids to start the day! There are no set days. If the weather is nice, there is a good chance that there will be a hike.
