We are a group dedicated to ascending peaks and enjoying panoramic views. We organise hikes in the hills around the country and abroad - occasionally going away on several days hiking trips. For each day's hike we generally aim to achieve at least 1000ft in total accent and at least 12 miles distance. In the modest peaks in the south east this will mean linking several hills together which will sometimes lead to lengthier walks. On trips to the national parks we will endeavour to choose challeng …

Having moved to Bristol and being a long term member of a great walking group in the south-east I thought I'd see what was on offer in the South-West, the meetup site said over 70 people in the area were 'waiting for' a hiking group so I thought it might be worth a try. The group I'm used to ( http://www.walkingclub.org.uk ) is a 'self-organised' group where walks are flexible and very sociable so I'd like to follow that philosophy. One of the reasons why I moved to Bristol was to have easy acce …
After a hectic week in London, there’s nothing better than going out to the countryside to see the sights, have a good walk and relax. We are a fun group of people (mainly in our 20's & 30's) who love to socialise and make new friends whilst exploring the countryside and towns outside of London. Most of our trips are easy to moderate hikes through scenic countryside ending in a friendly pub for a meal and some drinks.

You have probably heard that the Dolomites, in north-east Italy, were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The gentle hills covered with woods and lawns, the hundreds of ski slopes (thousands of kilometers!), the pink jaw-dropping vertical rock walls, the blushing of the rocks at sunset ("ensoradira") are well known in the whole world. But there's a lot more. The culture of hospitality, the family-led hotels, the fantastic food and wines, the peculiar local language ("Ladino", derived from Lat …

Hi! This group has been created for those interested in exploring mountains and hills in the UK without being solely focused with rock climbing. Examples would be scrambling(inc. being roped up), ridge walking, multi-pitch climbs, peak bagging, multi-day hikes. It would ideally suited to those with rock climbing experience (any level) and looking to tra …

Backabush Xplorers was created by a multinational group of friends who wanted to get more out of their weekends and explore the National Parks and areas of outstanding natural beauty in England and Wales. It all started with a few friends gathering in a scruffy camping barn somewhere rural and pretty but gradually developed from there. Although most people in the group are in their 20s and 30s age is not an issue to us - a fun loving and sociable nature is more important. It is not uncommon …

The purpose of this group is to gather a bunch of folk together for outdoor fun several times a year, with a few socials in between. Weekends away, mixed with some gentle walking / hiking and a fair few rural pubs. This will not be a 'hardcore' outdoors group so a reasonable level of fitness and health is all that is needed. I've not organised a group before but would dearly love to walk with other like-minded people who want to enjoy the countryside, meet new friends and, if they wish, take their well behaved dogs. I like to walk, but am not particularly fit at the moments so the first walk will not be excessively strenuous! This is not a singles group but as a single I'd love to meet other like-minded persons who are keen to expand their social groups.
This meetup group has been set up for people to get fit , lose weight in a fun enjoyable way by low level walking in the countryside by rivers and canals.

This group is for people who enjoy getting out in the New Forest particularly for off road bike rides and also the odd walk. We tend to focus more on cycling in the warmer months and add some walks to the mix in the winter. Typical bike rides 10-15 miles approx, walk lengths will be up to 6 miles. You would need to be reasonably fit but there would be plenty of stops! Although there are other more serious walking / cycling groups in the area I feel this group fills a niche for a more casual a …
