Since the section of the Crabtree Creek Greenway will formally "re-open" between Atlantic Ave and Capital Blvd, lets celebrate by riding it! We won't do the entire 11 miles but we will do the section from Crabtree Valley Mall to Raleigh Blvd. This section includes some interesting boardwalks, as well as a VERY nice gazebo overlooking wetlands.

You must have your own bicycle (as there aren't any rentals nearby). The trail is paved, but there are rougher sections where a true road bike might not be the best. A hybrid or mountain bike is probably best.

Even though we will be riding in a "group", to prevent clogging and hogging up the path, we will ride single file. This greenway gets busy and there are obstacles like other bikes, joggers, walkers, dogs and childrens. So, if you are looking to qualify for Olympics time trials, this event will disappoint you. Rather, it is meant to be a leisurely pace so that you can enjoy the scenery! Having said that, even though the trail is mostly flat, we will be biking a minimum of 10 miles, so if you have not biked in a while, this event will also disappoint you!

ALL RIDERS MUST WEAR A BICYCLE HELMET!

We will either meet at North Hills Park, or Shelley Lake or some other place. I will pick a location sometime later this week!

Pls check your bike tires/brakes/gears and make sure they work properly, before hitting the trail. I have a tire kit, in case of any punctures on the trail.

I assume this is canceled because of the rain. I just rode this from the beginning near duraleigh, to as far as I could go past Shelley Lake. I am not sure where the new part was.

"Only the second time that I have gone to a THOG event, but both events have been a lot of fun. The pace was nice, and I had some great conversations with other members. "
