For the first two miles we will hike the Pacific Crest Trail. The trail goes through a clear-cut, then enters the forest and gradually climbs and crosses several creeks. At times it enters open slopes.

It continues and descends in short switchbacks following and crossing a small creek several times. At the end of switchbacks the trail continues on to the south and soon reaches a big rock slide.

For a short distance the trail climbs along the creek, then crosses it and continues on south-east towards Abiel Peak.

In about 0.7 mile from PCT, the trail reaches the saddle between Tinkham and Silver Peaks and turns right (north) to Silver Peak. From here, one can see Silver Peak's south slope and zigzags of the trail on it.
In about 0.3 mile the trail continues in steep switchbacks on a rocky slope for about 0.5 mile to the peak. Expect to cross a steep talus/rock field.

The last 200 feet are very steep. You can pretty much see "everything" from here: Mt. Rainier, Mt. Stuart, Granite Mountain (you can even find a lookout there), Mt. Catherine, and Annette Lake right under the peak.
A NW Forest Pass is required. They do not sell them at the trailhead. You can purchase them beforehand at an REI or other sporting goods store.

Please use your discretion over your stamina and hiking ability level. We are covering up to 7 miles of rocky and moderate terrain.
If this is your first time hiking or in a long time, and you are not confident you are able to complete the hike, I suggest waiting until a shorter hike is available.

Proper clothing is very important!
In order to join our hiking event, these items are required:
*Rain jacket or Windbreaker (It may be windy and cold at the summit.)
*Warm clothing/sweater
*Hiking boots (Make sure to bring waterproof/water resistant boots, as we may cross several creeks)
*Food/late pm snack
*Extra Water
*First-Aid Kit

Highly Recommended:
Hiking Poles
Mosquito repellent
Sunglasses
sunscreen, lip balm
cap/hat
gloves
pants

Also, I recommend wearing clothes that are Not Made of Cotton, because they will not wick the sweat and moisture away from your body, causing you to become wet and cold.

Optional: After our events, we may head to Issaquah for good food.

Leave your valuables at home and only bring the necessities with you on the hike. Don't leave valuables in any car.

We'll meet at the trailhead (see directions below). After you arrive and park, please look for the meetup signs, walk over to the group standing outside and sign the waiver. After our 15 min. courtesy wait, we will all head up to the trailhead from there at 11:15am sharp.

See you then, rain, clouds or shine!

    •  I so enjoyed this hike! Hiking on a warm, sunny day, taking in the autumn colors and getting a good workout to the "top". Sheri & Richard.....you rock!
    •  This hike has moved up to the top of my 'favorites' list of mountain hikes. It has everything that I look for in a summit hike, including, backroad driving to the trail, fun approach trail with stream crossings, ponds, lakes, all kinds of berries, rocks to lay out on to enjoy the sun, hidden trail to get to the summit, talus scramble and expansive views in every direction. Sharing it with some of my favorite hiking friends only made it better. Thanks Sheri, for picking such a great hike!
    •  A beautiful day and mountain!
