Without a doubt, the best overall late Summer whitewater trip to finish out the 2008 year! Non-stop action, with hardly a breather, this is the fastest moving, and fastest dropping river in the state.
The Tieton begins by blowing out of Rimrock dam (warmest river water in the state), just upstream from where your trip begins. Rugged volcanic basalt cliffs line both sides of this mountain canyon, and the sun shines bright since you're on the dry side of the state.
It's the result of an autumn seasonal dam release from beautiful Rimrock Lake. The Lake is full this year, and is expected to run at a high flow this season for a fast and wild ride of solid Class III rapids!
Travel time: 3 Hours from Seattle
Length: 3-4 hours long
Level: Intermediate Class III (Possibly some IV's)
Note: If you plan on going, I highly recommend you call and reserve your spot ASAP for our 1:30pm slot with our group. They only run this river in the month of September, and it books up very quickly.
Itinerary
You will begin your adventure at the river outfitters location, right at the put-in for our trip. There will be a light snack for you to enjoy while they distribute wetsuits, booties, helmets, and paddles.
When everyone is suited up, the guides will give a safety talk about the things you need to be aware of on the river and in your raft. Then, you will meet your experienced guide for the day, go over any questions you may have, do some practice paddling on dryland, and then you're off!
After you get off the water, you will be shuttled back to the top where you can change into dry clothes while they heat up the grills. Then, enjoy a meal on the river and other goodies.
We’ll meet at the drop off site, and I’ll e-mail/post more directions & info to those that RSVP.
All the gear and lunch (you can request a vegetarian option as well), is included for approx $92.00 without tax, and you only need to bring your bathing suit to wear under the provided wetsuit.

Swimsuit or shorts to wear under your wetsuit

Change of clothes (to be left in your car for after the trip)
