Evening Hike: Mount Holly Sanctuary

They describe the terrain in Mount Holly Sanctuary as steep and rugged, with a wetland area at the base of the ridge. This sanctuary will be new to us too, so let's explore it together. The hike will be about 3 - 3.5 miles long and we may also venture in to Marian Yarrow preserve if time allows.

Unfortunately dogs are not allowed in the park.

As parking is very limited at this park we will be limiting this hike to 10 people, carpool if possible. Please make sure you will attend if you RSVP 'Yes', changing RSVP to 'No' last minute or not showing up, is not fair to other members of the group, so please plan accordingly. Prior to RSVP'ing please make sure you understand the group's guidelines for Attendance and RSVP etiquette.

With our daylight hours limited please arrive on time, we will be leaving promptly and don't want to leave you behind!

What to bring
Bring water, something to snack on, insect repellent and anything else you need to enjoy the hike. You should wear hiking boots, dress in layers and bring enough clothing for the conditions. As this is an evening hike having a flashlight is also a good idea - just incase!

Directions
From I684 exit at NY35 (Cross River/Katonah), go east towards Cross River 1.9 miles. Turn left on North Salem Road. Continue 0.8 mile to a small parking area on the road's left side (note where the road splits keep straight/slightly left fork).

Cancellation notices
We will be monitoring the weather prior to the hike and if conditions are not good, the hike is subject to cancellation. Please make sure to check your email/site prior to leaving for the hike, cancellation notices will be sent prior to 4 pm if required.

    • “ Nice evening hike, with a good group. We managed to explore many of the trails in Mount Holly and also do a little loop in Marian Yarrow. Would be good to plan another hike that takes us to Marian Yarrow more directly and explore that park more. Mount Holly was not as rugged and steep as the website led us to believe, but was pretty woodland and marsh and some hills to keep us on our toes. ”
