Picnic and stargazing at Sky Meadows State Park

Picnic at scenic Sky Meadows State Park with Nature Lovers Meetup. Then after dark we'll stargaze on the lawn behind the historic Mt. Bleak House. This public stargazing event is fun, even if you don't know anything about the night sky. View planets, nebulae and other heavenly bodies through powerful telescopes with amateur astronomers from the Northern Virginia Astronomy Club.

Bring: blanket to sit on and food and drinks to share (sorry, no alcohol allowed). Also bring a flashlight to carry (use it when you are away from the viewing area).

Directions to Sky Meadows State Park from Vienna Metro:
Take I-66 West about 35 miles to exit 23 (Delaplane/Paris). The off ramp will dump you right onto Rte. 17 heading north. Drive about 6 miles, turn LEFT on Rte. 710, which is called Edmonds Lane. The entrance to the park is at the end of this road.

Entrance fee of $4 to enter the park.

We'll meet at the entrance to the North side of Vienna Metro and leave at 6pm. The north parking lot is located off of Nutley Street along Virginia Center Blvd.

We'll arrive at the park at 7:00 and eat, chat and enjoy the scenery before dark. The program starts at 8:30. We can leave whenever we feel like going. *If you can drive others, please indicate so in your RSVP.*
