Crown Memorial Beach (3.2 mi, no elevation) Alameda County
This 3.2 mile out-and-back hike is an easy walk along the San Francisco Bay in Alameda. There is a $5 entrance fee to park.

Chowderfest Coastal Walk from Natural Bridges - Santa Cruz
Here's the route map for our coastal walk from Natural Bridges to the Chowderfest in Santa Cruz. It's about 2.4 miles one-way. We're meeting at the NBSP Visitor Center ($6), but clever cheapskates will no doubt find better parking spots early!

Point Reyes, Bear Valley (8.9 mi, 400 ft) Marin County
This 8.9 mile out-and-back hike has 400 feet of elevation and is one of the most popular routes at Point Reyes. There's an optional 2.2 mile extension loop for any of our Charger Brigade friends.

Santa Teresa (4.8 mi, 550 ft) Santa Clara County
This 4.8 mile loop hike has 550 feet of elevation and is famous for its springtime wildflowers. There's an optional 2.25 mile loop extension and opportunities for other add-ons for the Charger Brigade. Big map practice since park signage is poor.

Diablo Foothills, Livorna (4.4 mi, 450 ft) Contra Costa County
This 4.4 mile loop hike has about 450 feet of elevation and takes you through castle rock formations. The Livorna Staging Area is at the southwest corner of the park so be sure to follow the directions on hike morning. Tiny trailhead for parking.

Uvas Canyon (3.2 mi, 700 ft) Santa Clara County
This 3.2 mile loop hike has 700 feet of elevation, but is especially famous for its lovely waterfalls in the winter. There's an additional 1.4 mile out-and-back extension but it's steep! The trails are narrow with steep dropoffs, so hike safely.

Coyote Hills - EBRPD (5.1 mi, 350 ft) Alameda County
This 5.1 mile loop hike has about 350 feet of elevation and is a great winter hike. There's an optional 1.65 loop [Meadowlark trail] extension outlined. $5 entrance fee is required. Lots of rain may flood some trails so hike safely!

Point Reyes, Drake's Estero (7.8 mi, 600 ft) Marin County
This 7.8 mile out-and-back hike has about 600 ft of elevation and comes with an optional 1.4 mile extension for anyone who'd like a longer route. Weather in this area is very changeable so pack accordingly, including fleece and rain gear.

Del Valle Regional - EBRP (4.1 mi, 700 ft) Alameda County
This 4.1 mile 700 ft loop hike is part of the East Bay Regional Park District in Alameda County. There are lots of opportunities for short add-ons and 150 camping sites at the park. $6 vehicle entrance fee.

Pleasanton Ridge (5.2 mi, 1200 ft) Alameda County
This open 5.2 mi, 1200 ft loop hike is in near Sunol and has an optional 1.5 mi extension marked. This area is open (ie NOT SHADED) so you'll prefer it in the winter or spring. Be prepared to share the trails with bikes, horses and cows.

This 4.09 mi, 1000 ft loop hike at Sunol Regional Wilderness takes us back to the East Bay. There's a 1.46 mile optional loop with even more elevation for our Charger Brigade friends.

Crissy Field & Golden Gate Bridge (7 mi, 400 ft) San Francisco
This awesome 7+ mile route takes you from Crissy Field along the Golden Gate Promenade to the Golden Gate Bridge. Fearless Hikalites will walk over and back across the bridge before heading back along the Mason Street trail.

Shoreline Area Map (variable distance, no elevation) Santa Clara
This general map of the Shoreline area will allow you to put together your own hiking route. Some recommendations are around the lakes and up Vista Slope, or along the salt ponds to Charleston Slough and back. This is a great area for walkers!

Hidden Villa Farm & Preserve (3.7 mi, 900 ft) Santa Clara County
This 3.7 mile 900 ft loop hike is short but has lots of elevation. The preserve is open Tues-Sun but closed for 9 weeks in the summer. There's a $5 day use fee for this park, which includes a hostel for anyone looking for a nearby getaway!

North Ridge Trail at Purisima (3.6 mi, 900 ft) San Mateo County
This 3.6 mile 900 ft out-and-back hike starts from the northern Skyline Trailhead at beautiful Purisima Creek. The turnaround is a tiny grassy knoll (look for the star). Optional 1.2 mile out-and-back route on Harkins Ridge for our Charger Brigade.

Skyline Ridge (3 mi, 600 ft) San Mateo County
This easy 3 mi, 600 foot loop brings you past 2 beautiful lakes at Skyline Ridge OSP in San Mateo County. It's a short trail but there are lots of turns, so bring friends to help out with navigation. This route starts at the North parking lot.

Russian Ridge (3.6 mi, 600 ft + opt 1.6 mi) San Mateo County
This 3.6 mile partial loop takes you through the beautiful Russian Ridge OSP near Page Mill Rd & Skyline. There is an optional 1.6 mile loop and another optional 2.6 mile out-and-back on this route map. Be sure to hike with friends!

San Bruno Mountain Park (3.5 mi, 650 ft) San Mateo County
This 3.5 mi, 650 foot loop hike at San Bruno Mountain also includes an additional 2.9 mile loop walk on Saddle Trail. There is a $5 entrance fee for this San Mateo County park.

Here's the LOCATION of our awesome BBQ area for the First Anniversary Luau. Mitchell Park is a big place, so this may be helpful. We're right behind the tennis courts. Oh yeah. There are 2 sets of tennis courts. Better download the map.

Point Reyes, Tomales Point (9.5 mi, 1300 ft) Marin County
This 9.5 mi, 1300 ft out-and-back hike is at the tip of beautiful Point Reyes in Marin County. The wind will be challenging so pack accordingly with fleece & windbreakers. Lots of walking on sand so be prepared for a full day.

This 5.4 mile, 800 foot loop hike at Anthony Chabot Park also has a 1.7 mile and 1.6 mile loop extension. There are tons of trails at this East Bay location, so check Bay Area Hiker and the EBRPD website for more options to do with friends!

Lafayette Ridge, Briones (4.5 mi, 900 ft + 1.5 mi) Contra Costa
This 4.5 mi, 900 ft out-and-back hike at Briones Regional Park has an optional 1.5 mile loop (with elevation!). The trailhead is at the Lafayette Ridge Staging Area. This file also contains directions to El Charro in Lafayette.

Meteor Trail Loop (5.5 mi, 630 ft) Big Basin SP
This 5.5 mile, 630 ft loop hike at Big Basin Redwoods SP comes complete with a stop at Ocean View Summit ~ breathtaking views of the mountains and ocean on a clear day. Be sure to enjoy the Phenomenal Big Trees. $6 day use fee per vehicle.

Wilder Ranch (7.7 mi, 900 ft) Santa Cruz
This 7.6 mile loop is right near the coast and popular with mountain bikers. The Bay Area Hiker warns that the trails are not particularly well-marked (which is true), so definitely bring maps, friends and directions! $6 day use fee.

Angel Island (5 mi) Marin
This 5 mile loop is in beautiful Angel Island State Park. There's also a paved road around the perimeter of the park for anyone who cycles. Accessible by boat & public transportation, so remember to study those ferry schedules! Great picnic spot.

Stevens Creek & Fremont Older (6.1 mi, 1100 ft) Santa Clara Co
This 6.1 mi, 1100 ft loop hike crosses from Stevens Creek County Park into Fremont Older OSP and back. There is a $6 day use fee ~ pay at a ticket machine at one of the main entrances. You can drive to other parking areas from the ticket machine.

This route is actually the driving directions between each of our trailheads. Start at 100 Poplar for an out-and-back to Miramar Beach on the Coastal Trail, eat at Flying Fish Grill, then optional trips to Quarry Park & Fitzgerald Marine Reserve.

This lovely shaded out-and-back EASY hike begins at the Southwestern entrance on Tunitas Creek Road. Parking is extremely limited, no facilities. This file includes a map from the trailhead to Alice's Restaurant at the junction of Routes 84 and 35.

This 6.2 mile loop through the MROSD redwoods of San Mateo County is famous for beautiful trees & sandstone formations. This spot is very popular so be prepared to share the trails, especially with folks on bikes.

This EASY 2.9 mi, 350 ft loop meanders through old orchards and woods and is on the grounds of a historic winery and farm. Picnic location is highlighted! BTW: Mother's Day is THE busiest day of the year for this location.

Lost Trail, Windy Hill MROSD (4.2 mi, 400 feet) San Mateo County
This EASY out-and-back 4.2 MI 400 FT hike in the Windy Hill OSP winds through Douglas fir and oaks. A good amount of shade, but bring a hat and windbreaker for the open bits. There's an easy 1.4 MI 200 FT add-on to Anniversary Hill for great views!

Monte Bello, MROSD (5.9 mi, 1000 ft) Santa Clara County
This 5.9 MI loop hike at Monte Bello Open Space Preserve is lovely - with the chance to sneak up the back of Black Mountain. The last 7 miles to the trailhead is w-i-n-d-y so leave extra time to arrive safely. Watch out for bicyclists on the road.

This is the route a 6.8 MI 1000FT hike in the glorious Santa Cruz redwoods. The terrain may be a bit more "rustic" than you're used to, so pack accordingly. Drive safely!

Purisma Creek Redwoods (7 mi, 1400 ft) Half Moon Bay
This hike begins at the western entrance of the Purisma Creek Redwoods Open Preserve. Two routes: the 7 mile hike is (red) and the 9 mile route is (blue). Small parking area. Hike elevation is gradual. Mixed climate (cool redwoods & open ridge).
