second May hike - Butler Gulch

May 24

Location
Butler Gulch

Jones Pass
Empire, CO 80438

Estimated attendance:  12  people attended.

Butler Gulch is a moderate to strenuous hike with panoramic views, lots of water and over 100 kinds of wildflowers at peak bloom - we will be a little early for that, but hopefully will see quite a few - this is a 5 - 6 mile hike with an altitude gain of about 1400 feet -

to get there, take I 70 west to US 40 (turn off to Winter Park) - go thru' Empire (watch the speed trap) and continue about 7 miles to the Jones Pass/Henderson Mine turnoff on your left - parking area is about 2.5 miles up the road -

carpooling info will be out a few days before -

hope everyone can make it -

Sorry I'm missing this one - especially since it looks like I'd have company bringing up the rear! Glad you're going for it Hazel!

I forgot to mention that I will carpool if anyone wants to meet me at the Pak and Ride on I-70 and Ward Rd in Wheatridge. I would like to leave around 7 to get to the Hard Rock Cafe before the hike. I have to say hi to some of my friends of the 1860's!!! Haven't seen them for quite some time!

My ex is getting married on this day, so a hike with new friends will be a welcome diversion. Anyone who wants to join me afterwards for adult beverages to toast the closure in my life is welcome!!! This is my first hike since ACL surgery last year, so I might be slow. I'll be in the rear of the group with you, Hazel!

Oh bummer....I love it up there, but am having company from out of state so can't make it. Hopefully you'll do it again!

Who attended?

    •  Did not attend because I was not sure the exact spot to car pool from Littleton. Not sure if there was a car pool from this area. It seems that alot of difference in peoples attitude or confrontation was present in the group before the hike and felt that I just wanted to go on a peacful hike with any attitudes or conflict. Just to have some fun and relax and enjoy the outside and the day.

Someone hit an elk on l-70 and near Idaho Springs. The HWY was closed and I arrived too late. I would like to set this same hike up again in the future.
    •  We were surprised because the organizer never showed up.
