Mountain Pine Beetle: What Does the Future Hold for Colorado's Forests? 9/16/2009 7:00 PM Join a panel of Colorado State University experts to hear about the impact of the mountain pine beetle (Dendroctonus ponderosae) on Colorado's forests today and in the years ahead.
How has this native insect become such a problem, why is it such an effective killer of pines, is its presence a natural part of the forest lifecycle and what does the future hold for the health of Colorado's forests and outdoor recreation?
Colorado State University, as the state's land-grant university, provides a state-wide network of Extension offices and its Warner College of Natural Resources is home to the Colorado State Forest Service. All of which are working to address the mountain pine beetle and its impact in Colorado.
