This will be a bike ride from the Sandia Peak Ski Area to the Summit House and back along the Crest Scenic Byway 536. This initial part of the ride is 6 1/2 miles up hill. We will ride back down the same route to the Sandia Peak Ski Area.

As always a bike helmet is required.

Be advised that riding down from the Crest can be dangerous. Personally, I prefer peddling up than riding down due to road conditions and high speeds resulting from gravity.

Given the altitude and challenge of riding from 8,678 feet to 10,378 feet we will surly get a taste of what Lance calls suffering.

We will carpool and/or caravan from Smiths leaving at exactly 5;45 PM. You can meet us at the ski area. We park along HWY 14 just beyond the Ski area entrance. We want to be riding up by 6:30 exactly.

From Albuquerque, take I-40 East to the Cedar Crest Exit 175, North on NM HWY 14 to the Crest Scenic Byway 536, then 6 miles to the ski area.

Contact Aaron on the Asst. Organizers list if you have any questions.

Sounds good! There's a slight chance I can't make it though, but I'm gonna try really hard to meet you at the Smith's!

The road is paved from the Ski Area to Sandia Crest. It is uphill for the entire 6 1/2 miles except for the first 150 feet.

Hey Dave, ride up, run down. BTW, remember the first bike ride up when you and I almost got frost bite riding down.
