  •  HI Michelle, I noticed you live here in Dayton and from your pics it appears you Kayak. I just moved to Dayton, have a newly christened Dagger Approach and would be interested in connecting with some folks that are into the outdoors. I'm a hiker, kayaker, and wanna be backpacker ( I have some gear and just enough experience to be dangerous). Sherri

  •  Hi, Michelle. Thanks for joining. We're puting together quite a large group for training! But we're also lining up some great resources. Our first meeting is on March the 24th. Come if at all possible. We'll be discussing plans for the club and for training. Again, welcome to the club! -ZuperDave

  •  Hi Michelle

Are you planning to go to Miami Whitewater? The soup has chickens in it but I can avoid that easily enough I suppose. I thought about going to Red River Gorge but they are sharing food, its manditory I guess, which leaves me out. I've been helping with homeless dinners lately which is fun though, Some of those guys have a pretty good sense of humour LOL. Take Care

  •  Happy New Year Michelle!

About boats, I have a solo canoe, a carbon fiber kevlar composite that is long, narrow and fast but its tippy for some people. I have a sea kayak that is about 18 ft long. I guess the Sea Kayak could be used on lakes but it sits too low in the water for a river. They have to be that way because of wind and current. You need a skirt for ocean Kayaking or you will be taking on water. I can also borrow an aluminum tandem canoe from a freind, does your husband canoe?

  •  Well the Sea kayaking I did in Cal was mostly rough water stuff, Exploring Sea caves along the coast. Its a lot different than the Atlantic. Did some in the North Sea, some of that is pretty hairy. I've seen some of the clean up outings, I guess I need to get my canoe registered. They seem to make things like WW kayaks for little people LOL

  •  About the picture, its a shot of a sunrise aththe north pole but to me it has a deeper meaning. this might explain it, if you know what it means

In the golden city of the heart dwells
The Lord of Love, without parts, without stain.
Know him as the radiant light of lights.

There shines not the sun, neither moon nor star,
Nor flash of lightning, nor fire lit on earth.
The Lord is the light reflected by all.
He shining, everything shines after him.
    Mundaka Upanishad

Sorry, just thought I'd try to motivate you since I've never met you. We need to get a vegetarian sectionof the club going, and none of these wannabes who think vegetarians eat chickens haha. Oh well, hope to see you tomorrow, if not some other time

    Take care

  •  Hey there! thanks for the welcome! The OAC is trying to branch out into something other than WW. We've actually had a few hikes!

Don't worry about your roll - if you want to come out on a trip, we can get you hooked up with an inflatable kayak. Just say the word :)

If you are free tonight (12.8.07), the OAC has it's holiday party at the Dayton Canoe Club. Everyone is welcome to join us! Party starts at 6pm.
