I am doing a scouting hike Saturday at Sycamore State Park (near Trotwood) and thought there might be some members who want to do a winter hike as opposed to a winter walk. We will do about 8 miles (we can make it 6 if need be). The reason for the scouting hike is to see if this location would be good for the group as seemingly none of us have been there before. Expect to be hiking two to three hours. I am limiting this hike to a small group so we can stay together and maintain a good pace.

Carpool: 8am sharp at the Meijer's parking lot at the Tylersville Road (the I-75 exit in West Chester). Look for my red Hyundai Elantra (I can take three in my car). My cell is 513-600-4719. If we have more attendees, we will obviously need more drivers.

Gear: Waterproof boots...I have never been to this site but it does look like there are some stream crossings. Of course gloves, layers, headgear, whatever you see fit. And do not forget to bring water! The forecast is for wintry mix to rain, high of 40 degrees.

    • “ A great group of HIKERS came out and HIKED at Sycamore State Park. We braved the snow encrusted trails and got eight miles in, and had an excellent time at Bullwinkles for grub and libations. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. ”
