UPDATE 11/3/09:

Ok. Sorry for the long delay in getting the directions and meeting spot set up. Here it is though:

Directions: http://www.griffithob...

Meeting location:
The central monument in the middle of the grassy area. Here's a pic (meet at the monument to the right):

Meeting time is between 645-7. We start at 7. If you arrive late, just look for the guy with the messenger bag and tripod.

Here's my agenda, you can break off into groups or go on your own though.

1. Visit inside Observatory then pictures of the exterior and of the view. That's it.

Also, bring snacks and water if needed. I won't be able to get dinner afterward, but some of you may. You can organize that tomorrow.

Looking forward to it. See you then!

Well, I guess it's that time. Time to grab that tripod that's been hanging out in the corner and make use of it; and the camera that's been sitting in the bag for a month untouched.

My goal for this was to take pics of the sunset. But with daylight savings and the coming winter, it'll be going down at 5. So that's out of the plan.

Second option. Take pics of the city and of the Observatory itself. I have yet to check out this place, so I have no idea what to expect. I'm kind of excited!

Anyone who's been here please leave a comment or email me any enlightening tips you may have. I'm planning it on a Wednesday in hopes of avoiding crowds and making it easier to park. Carpooling would be helpful. We can organize that as the day nears.

More info on where to meet and directions as the day nears.

But here's the previous photowalks with pictures!!!!

Heavy rain cancels. Light rain does not. Snow will not either. Fires, maybe.

Also, just to answer some questions:

No, a camera isn't required. But if you don't have one, you may find yourself rather bored.
Yes, a tripod would help to steady shots. But you can always use a wall or anything stable.
Yes, I do accept tips.

Sorry for not updating. Been busy. I'll put a Google maps link up tomorrow and email you all on where to meet. It'll most likely be right off the main parking lot.

    •  Great fun to visit and shoot at night at the Observatory. It should be on everyone's bucket list!
    •  I had not seen the observatory since its reopening, so this was a good opportunity. Thanks Bjorn for showing me the underground museum.
    •  Good times. The clouds rolled in at about 8 and blocked all shots of LA. But I did get some other interesting shots though.
