To join up for this hike and expect to stay with the group, you should be able to ascend at an average of at least 1500 ft / hr. Sign up for the waiting list.

For all trips, wear boots or sturdy shoes, and bring lunch, lots of drinks, warm clothing (depending on altitude)

The trip "leader" is a volunteer and not a real leader (i.e. not liable for the group). Think of it as hiking with a group of friends.

Joining this hike is entirely voluntary and participants assume the full risks associated with the activities. It is each hiker's responsibility to ensure that s/he is in sufficient fitness and health to participate in a strenuous hike, with the appropriate water, food, clothing, first aid, and navigation equipment for the conditions. This group and the hike organizer make no warranties about the safety or supervision of these activities.

you have to have hiked 4000 ft recently, and be able to keep up with the group's pace (which is 1500 / hr +). sounds 'strict' until you have gone on my hikes and you realize that it's necessary. I don't want anyone falling back and hiking alone.
