Blanca is leading this walk.

If you have not RSVPd before 3:45pm day of the walk - please call as we may start without you, not knowing your coming. Call if you are running late 832-372-0201-can't promise we will wait for you, but we will try.

Walk will begin at 5:30, try to get there a few minutes before. I will start the first loop counter-clockwise, so if you are a few minutes late, start the walk clockwise and we can meet along the trail.

The exercise trail is just under 3 miles.

Happy trekking!

We will gather underneath the Swimming Pool sign at the pool's entrance gate. It is located directly in front of two handicapped parking spaces in the parking lot that serves the Swimming Pool, Fitness Center, and playground. Here's what the meeting spot looks like:

Please read the above paragraphs carefully and check the marked map to make sure we're all in the same place. Memorial is a large park with a variety of facilities, and several members have confused other areas with our meeting spot. The Swim Center is located off to the East side on Arnot Street.

Just in case, click here for one more map you can get driving directions from. The pointer is not quite right; it should indicate the upper fork of Arnot rather than the lower.

Dec 31 6:00 PM

This is a joint venture with my geocaching group. Come on out and have a fun time camping in a great park..

From the actual event (geocaching) page...

Have you run out of ideas for December 31st, tired of over priced hotel and bar parties, sceered to be on the roads or sidewalks? Come join us for a laid back un-organized, good ol' fashioned SETX Style Campout. OK OK there will be the traditional pot-luck dinner Dec. 31st.

DO NOT SPEND THIS NEW YEARS EVE SITTING AT HOME WATCHING THAT DARN BALL DROP!!!!!!!!

Those of you who have experienced a “campout” with cachers from SETX know that this will be a fun event. If you have not yet enjoyed the late nights around the camp fire, telling stories about your favorite caches and cachers, ‘till the early hours of the morning… well come on and see what you have been missing. December 30 - January 2

Did you just receive a GPS as a gift? Looking for an excuse to play with your new toy…. I mean equipment? Come see the real reason caching is the best activity around. It isn’t the smiley faces from gc.com, like you might think; it is all about the events. (Just ask Snoogans)

Huntsville State Park has some great mountain biking trails; so if you have them, bring them. I am sure there will be a group outing on bikes, on foot, and by car to check out the area.

Please post a note/RSVP below if you plan on attending, or even if you are not sure, but would like to attend. This will give us a better idea of how to prepare things for the weekend. Hope to see EVERYONE there, yes this means you too. If you are a cacher, you are invited/encouraged to attend. We look forward to seeing you soon,

Make reservations by calling 512-389-8900

If you have any questions, please email me... thanks. We have 3 shelter sites reserved but are filling up fast.

Walk will begin at 6:00, try to get there a few minutes before.

We will head clockwise down Memorial Loop trail and cross Memorial Drive to enter the Cambodia Trail which is 3.44 miles in and out. After the Cambodia Trail, we will reenter the Memorial Loop trail and proceed back to the parking lot for a total of approximately 5 miles.

Memorial Park, which is the largest urban park in Texas, is often called the Central Park of Houston. It includes a 3-mile jogging trail, swimming pool, inline skating, cycling, and hiking. The 1, 600acre park was acquired by William C. Hogg from the U. S. government. All the wooded areas on the south side of the park are crisscrossed by trails, many of which run along Buffalo Bayou and other smaller creeks.
There are restrooms near the parking lot where you can change clothes.

Please bring water, bug repellent, and flashlights.
