Gilroy Hot Springs Road
Gilroy, CA
Gilroy, CA 95020
HIKING DISTANCE/ELEVATION CHANGE: up to 15 miles, 3500 feet (7+ hours)
DIFFICULTY: very strenuous
If it gets very hot, we will shorten the trip just up to Kelly Lake and back.
DESCRIPTION
Starting from CoyoteCreek entrance, we'll ascend Grizzly Gulch and Dexter trais to the grassy ridge top, turn left onto Wasno road, and then take steep descend down to Kelly Lake.
Pristine waters of this forest lake are so inviting - it is almost impossible not to jump in for refreshing swim. YES I AM SERIOUS - BRING YOUR SWIMSUIT!
The following 3-miles long walk along the bottom of Kelly Cabin Canyon is that very hiking experience you'd never forget:
almost off-trail, with numerous creek crossings, wading through clear waters over rocky stream bed, surrounded by
maginficent carpet of wildflowers.
Enchanted by all this you'd want to spend hours here, but ahead of us is a long way back to the trailhead, including steady climb on Cross-Canyon trail to the ridgetop.
