I have never taken this route, I got some info from organizers from the Sac. hiking meetup group.

** Carpools: I can take 2-3 hikers and meet in the Walnut Creek Bart Parking lot***

***Camping, some expressed that it is a long way to drive, feel free to explore/set up a campsite for Friday/Saturday night and meet me at the trailhead. I have to be back in the Bay Area early am on Sunday and won't be camping

We need to do a car shuttle since the beginning and the end of the hike are 6 miles apart.

This is a streneous hike which includes rock scrambling or clamber up rocks according to another website, bushwhacking, creek crossing and trail finding
If you have never hiked with me send me a e-mail and we talk about what you have hiked lately.

If you haven't done anything above 12 miles and 3000 feet lately, please do not try to sign up for this hike! We will be starting at 6120feet and go up to 8800 possible 9230 (optional) Hiking at this elevation is more streneous by itself.

Trail head is at Horsetail falls.
http://maps.google.co...

Est. driving time from Walnut Creek 2hrs 40 / 150 miles

We will start (elev. 6120feet) at Horsetail falls follow the trail for 1.4 miles, followed by 1.5 miles on a ummarked/poorly marked trail scrambling up the rocks (It's best to stay 50-75 yards to the left of the stream). to the top and keep going until we reach ropi lake where we should find a marked trail again.
Map for the first part http://www.waterfalls...
Elevation at ropi lake about 7600 feet, we continue to Lake of the woods, lake aloha and return via lake margery, eventually we will reach the turn off (elev. 8800feet) to Ralston Peak, we can decide if we want to do the extra 1.2 miles roundtrip and 450 feet elevation gain, continue on ralston peak trail to camp sacramento.

Highlights of the hike include, waterfalls, streams, lakes, wildflowers, scenic views (from Mt. Ralston)

Your exit point is not that close to the Photo Meetup point. But we do expect to be at Aloha Lake by noon. I sent you my cell number, Chris, so give me a call when you start your hike. We'll probably be ahead of you since we've got to get to the ranger station to get the walk-in permits before they open at 8.

http://maps.google.com/maps... this should be the exit point, by looking at the map it looks like it might be only 1.5-2 miles on Hwy 50 from start to end.

Hey, where is the exit point expected to be? Camp Sacramento appears to also be in Twin Bridges where the trip begins, but you said the start and end are 6 miles apart. I ask because the Photo Meetup http://photo.meetup.com/661... is also going to Lake Aloha and we may be able to provide linkage if your exit point is Lower Echo Lake.

I have heard the wildflowers in some areas of the Sierras are spectacular right now.
