Welcome to the Super Fabulicious Hiking and Outdoor Adventure Group!
We organize outdoor activities all over the Bay Area, and occasionally outside the area as well. Although we most often organize hikes, we also organize biking and camping as well as other activities like rafting trips.
Please read and understand the information provided here on the "About Us" page, before attending any events with our group.
About our Organizers:Each event is organized independently. If you have a question regarding a particular event, make sure to contact the organizer for that particular event directly. They are the only ones that can answer specific questions about the event.
We try to describe the hikes to the best of our ability, and stick to the description as much as possible, since that is what people signed up for, but occasionally the plan will need to be changed due to circumstances outside of our control, like trail closures, bad weather, or other unforeseen reasons.
Participation in our events is at the discretion of the event organizer. The Organizer can turn away any member for ANY reason, either at the beginning of the hike or anytime during the hike. Organizers may also change a members RSVP to an event for any reason. Members that are not respectful of the group, its members, or the organizers are not welcome at our events.
Rules, Policies and other Information for our Members:Here are a few of the rules to help create an enjoyable environment for yourself and everyone else who participates.
- Arrive on time. Organizers have no obligation to wait for late comers. Often there is a 5-15 minute meet/greet period before leaving the meeting place, but there is no guarantee, so please arrive on time. If you miss an event due to lateness or getting lost, it would be appropriate to e-mail the event organizer with an apology for missing their event.
- Please do not attend a hike that is beyond the limits of your health & conditioning. This is not fair to others who expect to enjoy the hike at the level it was described, OR to the Organizer or other members who may have to wait or look for you if you get behind or get lost. Please browse our calendar for upcoming events that match your ability.
- Come prepared with the right hiking gear, especially boots/shoes, and enough food and water. These needs are different for everyone, so if you are not sure what to bring, contact the organizer of the particular event.
RSVP InformationUnless otherwise specified, it is not appropriate to attend an event without a "Yes" RSVP. There is often limited space, and attendees that are not on the RSVP list may be asked to leave.
The Super Fab Organizers keep a list of "no shows" that they share with each other. Your name will be added to this list EACH time you RSVP without showing up. It will be at the Organizers discretion to remove a member from any Meetup a member RSVPs for, if their name appears on this list.
Repeated "no shows" may be removed from group. Please be respectful to the event organizers and change your RSVP if your plans change.
RSVP YES when you want to join an event, BUT make sure to change your RSVP if your plans change.
RSVP NO: You only need to RSVP "no" if the event is filled and you want to be put on the waitlist, or if you have a comment that you think others want or need to know. Other than that, it is not necessary to RSVP "no" if you cannot attend the event.
RSVP MAYBE: A lot of Organizers do not allow this option because it counts as a "yes" in their total count. If you do rsvp "maybe" please update it when you know for sure, since it is pretty much the same as rsvping "yes" since it "holds" a spot which may prevent someone else from attending. If you RSVP "maybe" consistently without updating it, it will be considered the same as RSVPing "yes" which will get you on the "no show" list, and could be grounds for removal from the Super Fab group.
GUESTS: Organizers may or may not allow guests. It is also your responsibility to make sure your guests understand the rules, policies and expectations as described in this document.
Cost:We charge $1.00/meetup fee per event. The fee is used primarily to cover the monthly charge the group pays Meetup to use their platform.
Carpooling:Some Organizers arrange carpools, but you can also set-up your own carpools by using the comment section in your RSVP. Don't wait for someone to contact you. Be pro-active and check the list regularly. Aside from saving gas and cutting down on smog, some trail-heads have very few parking spaces.
Liability:Before you were allowed to join Meetup, you had to check a box saying you read and agreed to Meetup's Terms of Service. One of the most important sections in these terms as an Organizer, is Section 6.2 which refers to liability. Here is a link for your review.
http://www.meetup.com.... In simple language, YOU and only you, are responsible for your safety at all times if you participate in a Meetup event. In addition, we require each attendee to read and sign a waiver/sign-in sheet at each event. Please review the waiver/sign-in sheet here:
