The Las Vegas Hiking and Outdoors Meetup is a group of active people in our beautiful Desert Southwest who share a love of the outdoors. We offer a wide variety of hikes in Red Rock, Mt. Charleston, and points beyond. In addition, we go camping, take road trips, and get together for social functions. We'll try just about anything active or outdoorsy. We've met for softball and volleyball, indoor rock climbing, charitable functions such as a 5K for Make-A-Wish, even First Friday has found its way on to our calendar. As our group continues to grow, so will the scope of what we do. Our premier event is our monthly Moonlight Hike, where we hike by the light of the full moon.

When I ask members why they joined the group, the answer I hear most often is, "I love hiking, but my friends don't, and I don't want to go alone." Now we don't have to. We have over 1000 members who are all anxious hit the trail, get outside, commune with nature, or just hang out with other group members who share this common interest.

Not all of our outings are fit for everyone. Many are kid and dog friendly, especially the Moonlight Hike. Some are more difficult, such as the cilmb to Turtlehead Peak. Some are only for the most fit, such as peaking Mt. Charleston. But all are a good time. Whether it's a picnic and barbecue, the First Friday Arts Festival, or one of our countless hikes, you're sure to find something that suits your fancy. If you don't, feel free to suggest an outing to me or one of the Assistant Organizers, and we'll do our best to make it happen.
