Our maiden hike on this trail finished with a dramatic ending. The crew of 15 got lost in the cold darkness. Finally we were all safely rescued and got a free ride to Tin Shiu Wan Police Station in the midnight, not for statement taking but for good washing of our charcoal-covered faces!

Paul, the guide who led us 3 years ago, would like to re-march this long route. Details as below:

Meetup place: Admiralty Queensway Bus stop,
Lane Crawford front entrance, Pacific Place
Will take bus no.961 to the starting point at Tuen Mun,
IVE Tuen Mun, foothill of Castle Peak Monastery

Meetup time: 7:30 am (1 hour bus ride), Hikes starts 9:00 am

Hiking hour: 7-9 hours (Including rest)

Distance: 16k

Difficulty: 4/5

Trail: IVE Tuen Mun > Castle Peak 583m > Leung King Pass 200m
> Kin Shan 394m > Yuen Tau Shan 375m > Ling To Monastery >
Catch Westrail at Tin Shiu Wan

Attraction:
Scenic view of Tuen Mun, Yuen Long & Tin Shiu Wan,
Challenging walk on Martian gullies and never ending ridge line
Experience the thrill as a cliffhanger
Optional exit at Leung King Pass, descend to Leung King Estate

Challenge:
The trail is totally SHADELESS
A walk on endless series of loose sand slippery surface and craggy hilltops
NO spots for replenishment

Things to bring:
A pair of track-able and firm hing shoes; 3-4 L water & sports drink, quick energy snacks, headlight, walking stick,
gloves, umbrella, hat, suntan lotion, or whatever is needed for your SURVIVAL

    I know that a few of you will go to Tuen Mun IVE on your own, including Paul, Scott, Even and Sarah. For the rest of the Sign ups and Maybe(s), look forward to meeting you at the bus stop at Lane Crawford, Admiralty at 7:30am. Have a sound sleep and high spirit for the hike!

    Scott, you can take a light rail and the stop is called "Tsing Wun". Just for your information. There are many little rocks & sands from castle peak to leung king pass - very very slippy.

    For those of us who live in the New Territories, Admiralty seems like a pretty round-about way of getting to Tuen Mun. Where is the best place we could meet in Tuen Mun? Somewhere at IVE Tuen Mun? The Shan King bus terminus?

      “ Fabulous. What a trek! Great weather, good visibility, some gruelling uphills (particularly the first hour!) You may all be interested to hear that we climbed a total of 1500m during the day taking into account all the ups and downs (well, 1497m from Keith's GPS recording) and did not get (very) lost. ”
